In 2011, the Presidential Commision for the Study of Bioethical Issued this report titled "Ethically Impossible": STD Research in Guatemala from 1946 to 1948 to summarize the findings of a nine-minth intensive investigation into the specifics of the US PUblic Health Service-led studies in Guatemala involving the intentional exposure and infection of vulnerable populations. The Commission judged the experiments "gross violations of ethics" and "egregious moral wrongs."
